If you want to do some activities in the open air , just outside Florence, there's nothing better than cycling in Fiesole and Chianti and stopping maybe in one of the beautiful historic villages. A holiday is doing sports and also enjoying the small pleasures of life!
A good idea is to reach Fiesole, a small village on the hills just a few kilometers from the centre of Florence. An uphill route, maybe tiring but repaid by the beautiful view of the city which can be admired from there. The cycling blends with a visit to the amphitheatre and to the Etruscan museum.
Make an early start in the morning and reach Chianti from Florence cycling along the ancient Via Cassia (a street of Roman origin). It is a unique experience and an excellent opportunity to get to know the beautiful landscapes of the Tuscan countryside.
Shaded roads and streets, among hills and olive groves, will take you to the heart of the ancient villages of Chianti. When you are tired you can stop and drink a glass of good wine in one of the many wineries and farms of the area.
If you have more days available, you can leave Florence and head south towards Siena, to the “Crete Senesi”,Siena Val d'Orcia, Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano.
Beautiful areas and panorama to be enjoyed that also offer excellent cheeses and wines, as well as several thermal centers with natural hot waters and a golf club.
