From 1998, the Badia Fiorentina of which the Cloister is part was entrusted to a young religious community named 'Fraternità Monastiche di Gerusalemme'.
Monks and nuns maintain the right atmosphere for the tradition, the contemplation and the liturgical prayer. The Cloister's pictures, funeral monuments and frescos date back to the 13th and 14th centuries.
In the 15th and 16th centuries the Cloister underwent the most significant transformations: from the original orientation towards east, the church took the actual form of a Greek cross.
