Armani and Emporio Armani are located in this shopping district. Armani has been around for a long time, providing excellent quality upscale clothing and accessories for men, women, and children for over three decades. It's known as a luxury label, but recent designs have focused on the youth markets, with designs in jeans and T-shirts as well as tailored suits. The Armani store is fairly eclectic, carrying items from many of the Armani clothing lines. The Emporio Armani is a little different, with somewhat less expensive clothing than Armani's highest-priced lines with ready-to-wear clothing, sunglasses, accessories of many kinds, and even perfumes.

Bulgari is a luxury accessory line that started with upscale jewelry and today has some of the most sought after designer handbags on the market. The Bulgari stores also carry watches and other Bulgari accessories, and there are even Bulgari hotels. Watches are currently the hottest Bulgari item; of Swiss design and make, Bulgari watches are almost a third of regular store sales. Their heavy, bold styles have made many Bulgari pieces instantly recognizable. The Florence Bulgari store has recently been renovated, and focuses primarily on jewelry. You'll find this store to be customer-service intense, providing you with the ultimate luxury pampering.

Dolce & Gabbana is a typically Italian designer line started by lovers from Palermo and Milan; though the two have since separated emotionally, their fashion line lives on. They focus on sexy clothing and accessories, their Dolce&Gabbana line the more traditional and the D&G line setting trends. Celebrities are very fond of both lines, and you'll find their labels on everything from clothing to beachwear to glasses. The Florence store is one of their larger ones, and you'll find most of their regular fashion lines here.

Gianni Versace started designing clothing in Milan, but the Florence store is one of the first in the Versace chain and carries most of the line that you'll find in Milan. Versace carries clothing, of course, but also has strong lines in accessories, fragrance, and makeup, and its line of home furnishings decorate the Palazzo Versace hotel in Australia. Donatella Versace took over the design lines after Gianni was murdered, and under her direction Versace has taken on a new image, sexy and strong. The Florence store is sleek and black since its redesign in 2006. Its lower floors contain accessories and the women's clothing line, the men's clothing line is above. Versace is a don't-miss store.

Gucci lover? Florence is the place for you. This line was started here around 1920, and its flagship store and outlet have been here ever since. Handbags are one of the line's big sellers, but you'll find many, many other items, from jeans to suits to all kinds of accessories. Gucci is known for its design of the world's most expensive jeans, a distressed pair covered with African beads and priced at over $3000. Most of their items, however, are more reasonable than this.

Prada is yet another Italian fashion house headquartered in Milan, and they are among the most influential clothing designers in the world, with collections that are known for their luxurious material, fine craftsmanship, and classic elegance. The store in Florence is okay, with the usual collection of bags, shoes, and clothing. But only a few kilometers south of Florence, you'll find the Prada factory outlet store, where you can get unbelievable bargains on their finest items, though you'll need to take a number for admission; it gets that busy.
