Florence Shopping Itinerary

The Italian fashion is famous worldwide and Florence is home to some of the largest Italian designers. That is why the city is full of beautiful clothes shops, where to find the latest trends in clothes and accessories.

Florence is also a city of traditions, here it is easy to buy items of high quality handicrafts. Florence is famous for its leather goods, jeweler, embroidery and many cute small objects to furnish the house. If you plan to make a vacation in Florence prepare a large suitcase because you can’t go back home without buy something!

 

Morning

Start your day with a jump to the market of San Lorenzo, a paradise for leather goods. Here you will find jackets, handbags, shoes, belts ... all made by hand, according to the tradition of master craftsmen working leather in Florence.

And if after a few hours you'll be a little bit hungry, enter into the nearby Central Market, you can taste delicious foods and excellent wines at very good prices!

Continue towards the cathedral, past Piazza della Repubblica, head for Via Tornabuoni and via Della Vigna Nuova: the kingdom of high class shopping. These two roads in Florence represent the 5th Avenue in New York: all major fashion brands have a home here. Ferragamo, Gucci, Armani, Versace, Prada, Hugo Boss and even Roberto Cavalli, who created here a trendy bar. Take the opportunity to have a coffee here! Or if you are hungry, have a small break for lunch during your shopping day.

 

Afternoon

After lunch you can restart your shopping trip, going back a few steps and you’re in Piazza della Repubblica and which leads to Ponte Vecchio. On the road you will find the marketplace of Loggia del Porcellino (Be sure to caress the Guinea pig’s muzzle and throw in a penny, so to be sure to return back to Florence). It is a market where to buy industries typical Florentine products: objects made of marbled paper, ceramics, leather or cloth, decorated and made by hand.

A stop for a good ice cream (the area is full of excellent ice-cream shops) and, finally, here's Ponte Vecchio, with its jewelry shops. Small shops on the bridge offering the best tradition of Italian goldsmith: necklaces, earrings, brooches, rings and bracelets in gold, silver and precious stones set and worked with great skill. The technique is ancient but the style is absolutely modern. In no other place in the world are so many different jewels, in little space. It might be the right occasion for that special gift you wanted to do your sweetheart...

 

Evening

If you're still a have some energy before going to dinner, and you want to buy some presents return back in Piazza della Repubblica and enter into one of the biggest department store in town: La Rinascente, opens till late. Five floors to explore, where you'll find big-name fashion designers but also emerging Italians, as well as body and home products. And from the top of the café terrace you can admire the beautiful view of Florence.

Now that you have made purchases you can find a good Tuscan Inn, where to relax and enjoy a tasty dinner. You have a very big choice, you are in the heart of Florence!
